I am writing this from a remote part of Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island. There is nobody within 100 miles of here that has been identified as having contracted the Virus. Everything locally is shut bar the Food Store and the Drug Store. People are frightened and understandably so. They are at home on a constant diet of COVED – 19 threats, statistics and press briefings. Isn’t it great that we have so many experts. All you need is a microphone to be an expert these days. It’s a pity the expert leaders of the WHO didn’t recognise what was happening until it had gathered pace.
Communism/socialism is based on total centralized control of the people.
If they don’t conform they will either be taught the error of their ways by physical and emotional torture, confined to some kind of a hard labour camp or they will be removed without trace. In essence brutal and unrelenting bullying which in the last century led to such regimes killing tens of millions of their own people.
Today I believe we in the so called free world are heading in that direction by virtue of how we deal with modern day crises. The coved-19 pandemic raises this issue to an alarming degree. Getting people to conform through fear is at the heart of exerting control over them whether it be in the form of communism/socialism or in the free world.
I refer to this phenomenon as CAPUNISM – a version of communism which is being increasingly practised by politicians and the media in the western world. I don’t even suggest that this is a clear objective in the minds of the architects who are exerting these influences over us.
Instead it is an aspect of human nature that defies logical thought on the face of it. However when you look behind the supposed reasoning it is really driven by the conflicting agendas of those in a position of power and influence principally the politicians and the media.
It is ludicrous to hear leaders in Europe and North America referring to themselves as war time leaders as a result of having to deal with the current pandemic. In their efforts to sound statesman like or even Churchillian as suggested by some they are more worried about their own self interest and legacy than addressing the issues.
All of a sudden American and European leaders are promising to pay enormous sums of money to their constituents that they don’t have. By doing so they are encouraging people not to go to work which will cause many businesses to collapse and could easily lead to the collapse of the free world economy. They are spending our money and will expect us to pony up shortly.
This all begs the question are these measures necessary, will they work and at what cost. At the outset President Trump took decisive action by closing the borders to china. At the same time he sought to try and calm people as they were trying to formulate a plan. The media of course immediately suggested he wasn’t facing up to the problem. It quickly became apparent that the emotional reaction to the pandemic was too great to resist. Even he had to allow some of the establishment into his office in order to make any progress.
The emotion that has been taped into has eroded any kind of perspective around the issue. Politicians have assumed the responsibility of looking after everone, paying people to stay at home, suspending mortgage payments etc etc. At what point do we take responsibility for ourselves or must we now expect and allow the state to do everything for us. In the not too distant future they will be expecting you to pay up and when you don’t or can’t we could be facing an economic collapse at catastrophic levels.
This emotional reaction which overrides all logic in this regard is similar to the emotion which existed after 9/11. The lock down of airports which resulted from the 9/11 bombings was initially the right step to take. However it shouldn’t have become permanent. It defies logic and is based on pure emotion generated by blind fear. If you told people that we are going take certain steps which have a 97% failure rate as part of your plan to address any issue they would logically say what are the other options. They didn’t because the understandable emotion that existed at the time meant that people were looking for direction and when told that this was the best course of action they grabbed it because they needed to feel better and their leaders and the media tapped into it. It has evolved into something where all the stakeholders are so invested in it that nobody will even discuss it for fear of their own agenda being damaged.
Having locked down the airports for a period they cemented the idea in people’s heads that this was necessary for their continued safety. Intelligent and reasonable people will tell you that they know that airport security is ineffective in it’s current format and that profiling, intelligence and targeting is not only more effective but far less disruptive to daily life. Nevertheless at the end of the conversation they will then say they don’t want it to change.
Michael O’Leary of Ryannair was recently criticised for suggesting that it is unnecessary to screen small children and old ladies. After all he said terrorists are generally Muslim men. A lessor force than O’Leary would have had to resign. But because he was right and the media were a little afraid of his ability to insist on telling the truth the general body politic decided to ignore him. Result nothing changed even though most people would privately agree with him.
I come from a security background and I can tell you that people increasingly insist on what they believe will work and not what the experts tell them. This is an emotional reaction in a world where increasingly everybody is their own expert.
If you translate these types of responses to the present crisis it is alarmingly similar. People are prepared to put everything at risk to limit the spread of a virus because that emotion of fear has been taped into again. The response in it’s current format could easily destroy everything and cause more devastation and destruction should the world economy collapse.
Of course this will only effect the free world because the China’s of this world will just cull a few more of their citizens, demand more from the remaining masses and the elite will circle the wagons and nothing will change for them.
It is understandable to have had an initial lockdown to impress upon people the seriousness of the coved -19 pandemic and their need to act responsibly. However the idea that we can pay people not to work and strangle consumerism with the promise of various financial rescue plans is irresponsible and it is conning the people at an alarming level.
I recently spoke with a doctor from the midlands in England and he advised me that at this time of year it would be normal to issue up to 10 death certificates a week in his surgery in respect of people passing away due to flu or other illnesses caused by their underlying health issues. The loss of any life is terrible and should not be treated lightly and I am not doing so. What is required though is perspective in order that the overall good of the society that we have created is catered for as best as possible.
In the circumstance older people with underlying conditions should absolutely be prioritized. This can be done through a mix of social distancing and isolation for those people only. The rest of society should take personal responsibility and sensible precautions such as wearing gloves, washing hands properly and often etc. etc.
It must be remembered that at least 95% plus of people who contract the virus will live. The bottom line is we have to find a way to deal with this in a way that doesn’t end up destroying everything else in our orbit which would lead to far greater loss of life and other consequences.
Meanwhile as our leaders are playing war games China the creator of the pandemic is getting a free pass. I actually heard an idiot reporter at a Trump press briefing ask him why he kept referring to the virus as the China virus. His answer “ because it came from China “. The implication in her question was that he was being racist. I have no reason to think that this lady was being anything other than genuine. I also have no reason to think that she is not an intelligent and capable person but she was acting like an idiot. So on the one hand the entire population of Europe and North America is running around in a state of fear and panic and this is what’s concerning her at a press briefing.
I would have thought she should be asking what are we doing to get China to foot the bill for the enormous cost of the pandemic. Their refusal to acknowledge the seriousness of the situation last November/December and their refusal to allow outsiders in to help with the virus is unforgivable. They should be sued in some international court by the rest of the world
Meanwhile China is plowing on taking direct or indirect control of Islands in the south pacific to secure control of their ports and waterways and the rights to their mineral wealth.
There are 300,000 chinese workers in Italy as a result of the Italians selling 4 major ports to them and contracting them on a variety of infrastructure projects. That’s turned out to be a great deal!!! I don’t think. Why is the European union not taking action to get them out of the Eurozone??
The present lockdown is unsustainable and will ultimately cause more hardship and loss of life if economies collapse, health systems crumble, crime soars and the Chinese step in to assist in a manner that the millennials and future generations will regret.
This is being driven by CAPUNISM. Our leaders are doing it to us and themselves. They are blinded by a very confused desire to do what’s right but deep down self interest and legacy is so rooted in their psyche that their instinctive reaction to any crisis dictates what their response will be.
More than ever we need a real leader or leaders to surface. It generally takes courage to do what’s right. Instead what we’ve got is a bunch of leaders telling us what we want to hear. That’s FOLLOWSHIP not leadership.
The increasing influence of CAPUNISM and FOLLOWSHIP in our society is putting everything on the table for the Chinese. As history has often proven by the time enough people realise it it’s too late.
